2 NASCAR Pit Crew Members Face Drug Charges

Two members of a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team were busted Tuesday after cops suspected them of burning more than rubber.

The two worked for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing and were fired later that day after being arrested.

According to Lt. Ken Richardson, police received a tip indicating the drugs were being shipped via FedEx from California to Lysne’s apartment at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.

Lysne was charged with trafficking marijuana, maintaining a dwelling to sell a controlled substance and being in possession with intent to distribute and sell marijuana.

Frey was charged with one count of trafficking marijuana and one count of intent to sell and distribute marijuana.

Both men were mechanics for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. Lysne was the tire changer for driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Web site, Lysne was released on a $30,000 secured bond and Frey was released on a $25,000 secured bond.
